In the days leading up to No Mercy, I was wondering what Chris Jericho's future in the company would be. As a result of this feud with HBK, it seems that Jericho has been elevated. Was it just for the purposes of this storyline, or was this is an attempt to build him into a main eventer? Perhaps, he will go back down the ladder when it's all said and done.
After all of this, it seemed like it would be a waste not to capitalize on it. He's already been elevated to an extent, but a lengthy World Title reign would cement it. Then, even if they don't want him on top, they've always got a credible heel challenger to pose a serious threat, because the guy destroyed HBK and won the World Title afterward. If not, then he goes back to being a non-threat. I was dying for him to get the gold back. Then, I saw that he lost to HBK, that night. I was very irritated until seeing that he was a replacement for Punk, in the WHC match. Never did I expect this to happen...

After six years, he's finally regained the World Title. He lost his match and came out on top, anyway. Brilliant.
